Today's story reminds us that if we hear God's word but don't actually obey, then we are like a man who looks in the mirror, walks away, and forgets what he looks like.
I try to connect the dots for the kids in a way they will understand and be able to apply this story to their own lives.

James teaches us not to judge others simply by their outward appearance. He reminds us of why this is important and connects us back to the Golden rule : "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." The kids will hear how this story applies to their own lives; whether it's at school or basketball practice....
